The coming of Christ has long been a focus of celebration in the church’s corporate worship life, both his first and second comings. Since early times, Christians have celebrated Christ’s incarnation on December 25 and the subsequent twelve days. Similarly, Christians have used the four weeks leading up to Christmas as a time of anticipation, giving attention to prophecies that predicted his coming to earth as Judge and King.
